Event Description
- WHAT: For the Heat Advisory, high temperatures around 100 degrees expected. For the High Wind Warning, west winds 30 to 40 mph, with gusts up to 60 mph expected.
- WHERE: Eastern Glacier, Western Toole, and Central Pondera.
- WHEN: For the Heat Advisory, until 3 AM MDT Sunday. For the High Wind Warning, from 6 PM this evening to noon MDT Sunday.
- IMPACTS: Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Hot temperatures may cause heat illnesses.
- ADDITIONAL DETAILS: The most intense winds are likely to occur between 9 PM Saturday and 6 AM Sunday when mountain wave activity will be at its peak.
Event Instructions
People are urged to secure loose objects that could be blown around
or damaged by the wind.
Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car
interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. If you must spend
time outdoors, wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to
limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action
when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
